LA HABRA

A survey released by the American Automobile Assn. of Southern California named this city’s gas prices as the lowest in the Southland.
Set at an average of $1.39 a gallon, gas prices in La Habra remained at the bottom of a list of 49 Southern California cities, despite the recent cost hikes across the state, auto club officials said.
City officials said one reason for the low gas rates may be the city’s geographic location.
La Habra is situated between four arterial roadways that serve the rest of Orange County, said Brad Bridenbecker, assistant city manager. Gas stations nearer to freeway onramps and offramps may charge more premium rates, but as traffic flows through the city it can increase competitiveness between the businesses, which lowers prices.
