SPORT: Baseball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: After missing the end of the basketball season because of mononucleosis, Adamczyk has returned with a vengeance in baseball. He’s 10 of 18 with 11 runs batted in, and is 1-0 as a pitcher. The 6-foot-6 pitcher and first baseman has college and pro potential.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: In helping Westlake win four games in five days, Adamczyk went nine for 13. He pitched a six-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 5-3 victory over El Camino Real in the championship game of the San Fernando Valley tournament at USC. “He’s back,” Coach Chuck Berrington said. “He’s solidified our whole offense and our pitching.”

Meredith Cervenka
SCHOOL: Crescenta Valley
YEAR: Junior
SPORT: Softball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Cervenka (6-0) has picked up where she left off last season, extending her streak of not allowing an earned run to 214 consecutive innings. She has 81 strikeouts and only two walks in 81 innings.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Cervenka pitched shutouts against Canyon, Banning and Thousand Oaks. The right-hander struck out 42 and allowed only six hits and two walks in 27 innings. Crescenta Valley beat Thousand Oaks, 1-0, on the strength of Cervenka’s four-hitter in the semifinals of the Downey tournament.
