San Fernando 4, Kennedy 3--Jesse Moreno hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning to give the Tigers a Valley Mission League victory at Kennedy.
Abraham Gonzalez of San Fernando (3-5, 1-0) opened the inning with a home run to tie the score.
Adam Geery hit a run-scoring triple and Juan Sepulveda had a run-scoring single for the Golden Cougars (2-6-1, 0-1) in a three-run third inning.
El Camino Real 15, Taft 0--Chris Gallo (2-0) pitched five hitless innings and Conor Jackson had a home run, single and three runs batted in for the Conquistadores in a West Valley League opener at Taft.
Sean McElroy had two doubles and scored three runs for El Camino Real (6-2).
Van Nuys 5, Monroe 3--Steven Burton hit a two-out, two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth and gave the Wolves (4-5, 1-0) a Valley Mission League victory at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park.
Alfredo Avila (2-0) relieved starter Jose Jimenez and pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings, giving up four hits.
Sylmar 12, Reseda 0--Alvaro Santos hit a three-run home run and Greg Ramos allowed two hits in five innings for the Spartans (5-3, 1-0) in a Valley Mission League game at Sylmar.
Cleveland 3, Granada Hills 2--Robert Moran’s run-scoring single in the sixth gave the Cavaliers (5-3, 1-0) a West Valley League victory at Cleveland.
Crespi 12, Loyola 0--Marshall Plouffe (4-0) allowed three hits and struck out four for the Celts in a Mission League game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule at Loyola.
Plouffe had three hits, including a three-run home run, and four RBIs for Crespi (6-0-1, 2-0-1).
Ventura 18, Dos Pueblos 12--Chris Vega (2-0) rallied the Cougars from a 10-2 deficit, pitching four innings of hitless relief, driving in three runs and scoring three in a Channel League game at Dos Pueblos.
Vega, who struck out eight, hit a triple, double and single for Ventura (7-1-1, 1-0-1).
Camarillo 17, Rio Mesa 5--Spencer Wyman and Delmon Young hit back-to-back home runs in a seven-run third for the Scorpions in a Pacific View League game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule at Rio Mesa.
Wyman’s three-run shot was his seventh of the season for defending champion Camarillo (6-3, 3-0).
Crescenta Valley 5, Pasadena 3--John Barbaro had two RBIs for the Falcons (3-3) in a Pacific League victory at Pasadena.
Faith Baptist 9, Ribet Academy 2--Fernando Velasquez and Frank Quintero combined on a four-hitter with 16 strikeouts for the Contenders (3-1, 1-0) in a Heritage League victory at Ribet Academy (2-3, 0-1).
