Eight-Run Rally Gives Santa Ana the Victory

Aaron Escobedo’s grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning capped an eight-run rally for Santa Ana in its 12-10 victory over Golden West in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Tuesday at Santa Ana College.
Tony Calderon, of El Modena High, hit a three-run double earlier in the inning for Santa Ana (32-6-1, 18-5), which scored all eight runs without making an out.
Jeremy Hanson and Phil Archer hit two-run doubles in the top of the ninth as Golden West (19-20, 8-14), scored seven times to overcome a 4-3 deficit and set the stage for the Dons’ comeback.
Escobar finished with two hits and five RBIs and Calderon had a home run, two doubles and four RBIs for Santa Ana.
In another conference game:
Cypress 10, Fullerton 8--Chris Klosterman hit a two-run triple and Matt Ruzecki had a two-run single as part of a six-run rally in the fifth inning that led visiting Cypress (31-8, 14-7).
Juan Munoz had two triples, a single, two RBIs and scored two runs and Corey Robles hit a home run for Fullerton (18-22, 8-14).
