Bush on Missiles

* Re “Bush Pushes for Missile Defense for All 50 States,” May 24:
So George W. Bush wants to spend even more money on a ridiculous, failed effort to shoot down imaginary missiles from two-bit threats like North Korea or Libya. Where has he been for the last 40 years? Individual terrorist acts are what we should be guarding against. His Maginot Line in the sky will only weaken this country by foolishly wasting resources on his friends and supporters in the aerospace industry.

How pathetic can you get? Bush makes a foreign policy speech urging more money be spent on a ridiculous missile defense system, and he sticks every well-known Republican on the dais, from Colin Powell to Henry Kissinger, to convince folks he might know what he’s talking about. I’ll bet he still can’t name the prime minister of India.

The fundamental difference between Al Gore and Bush is this: Gore wants government controlling our lives; Bush wants us to have more freedom, more independence. After all, isn’t liberty what founded America? What makes it great?
