Bibby Looking for the Killer Instinct
As the 20th-ranked Trojans seek their third consecutive win, Coach Henry Bibby is seeking something else--a team leader.
USC has bought into the team concept, that each player is an equally important yet interchangeable part of the whole.
But while the Trojans have a respected point guard in Brandon Granville and two acknowledged scorers in Sam Clancy and Brian Scalabrine, they don’t have that galvanizing personality force to rally around.
“We haven’t had that yet,” Bibby said. “It’s not a makeup of the team where you have someone step up and that happens. Collectively, all the guys chip in and make decisions together on what we do.
“I like what we’re doing. My concern is do we have the killer instinct we need for everybody. You have to want to beat Bradley as much as you want to beat Arizona.”
