Pasadena Passed by Gossard

After Crescenta Valley High’s 35-0 victory over Pasadena on Thursday night at Glendale High, quarterback Hudson Gossard was quick to give credit.

First he praised his offensive line, then his receivers.

But it would be difficult to ignore Gossard’s contributions in the Pacific League opener.

Gossard completed 22 of 30 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns, including four in the first half when Crescenta Valley (6-0) opened a 28-0 advantage.

“He just keeps getting better,” Coach Alan Eberhart said. “His confidence was shaken a little going in, so we just told him to slow down and he was very good.”

Gossard has passed for 1,372 yards and 17 touchdowns.

He threw touchdown passes to four receivers, including Jason Hogan, who had six catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

Jason Burkhart had seven receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown, and Ryan Radenbaugh had six catches for 151 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown pass play.

Crescenta Valley had 412 yards and held Pasadena (0-6) to 80.
