The Brea Library Summer Reading Program 2000 was declared a success after officials determined that 747 students participated.
Of these, 675 were students from preschool to fourth grade, and an additional 72 were young adults.
The program, conducted by library manager Roberta Drake, seeks to help students with their reading skills using volunteer tutors. Sixty-eight teenage volunteers worked a total of more than 1,200 hours in the program.
