A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was recovering Friday evening after being shot in the upper body during a traffic stop in Norwalk, authorities said.
Deputy Angel Dominguez, a 10-year veteran of the force, was approaching a car he had pulled over about 2 p.m. on Norwalk Boulevard when he was shot by someone inside with a small-caliber weapon, said Deputy Richard Pena.
Dominguez, 35, was in stable condition at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, Pena said.
The gunman was driving a mid-1990s gold or champagne-colored Nissan Maxima or a four-door Honda, Deputy Ron Bottomley said. He is described as Latino, 25-35 years old, with a mustache and a blue Dodgers baseball cap.
