Turning Left Into Hospital to Get Easier
Dear Traffic Talk:
When northbound drivers wish to turn left into Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Hospital at 5601 De Soto Ave. in Woodland Hills, it can take more than six minutes. Are there any plans to install a left-turn arrow here?

Sherman Oaks
Dear Abraham:
Following a comprehensive study, engineers have approved installing left-turn signals here soon, said Ken Firoozmand, West Valley District engineer at the city Department of Transportation.
Northbound traffic will get a protected left turn, meaning drivers can turn only during the arrow. Southbound motorists will get a protected/permissive signal, meaning the left-turn arrow will come on when four or more vehicles line up to turn left.

Dear Traffic Talk:
Is it possible to repave Arvilla Avenue, between Arminta Street and San Fernando Road, in Sun Valley?
There are several potholes, and the lane striping and markings where vehicles stop need to be repainted.
--Adlene Sands
Sun Valley
Dear Adlene:
This portion of Arvilla was repaved in 1989 and there are no current plans to repave it, said Robert Reed, a spokesman at the city Department of Public Works.
Call the city Bureau of Street Services at (213) 473-8410 to request that a supervisor visit that stretch and determine its condition. The official will try to get the area scheduled for repaving, if needed.
To learn which streets have been scheduled for resurfacing, log on to the city’s Web site at https://www.lacity.org. Click on the Departments & Bureaus menu, select Street Services Bureau, and then scroll down to the Current Road Work Information section.
