SACRAMENTO — Dozens of deputies fanned out across a Sacramento County neighborhood Monday afternoon, as a nationwide search continued for the suspect in the slayings of six family members.
With few solid leads in a week, police planned to “go back to ground zero” in their hunt for Nikolay Soltys, said Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sgt. James Lewis.
“We’re no closer to catching him than we were a week ago,” Lewis said.
Deputies set up a command center in a parking lot near where Soltys was last reported seen, a week ago, and began going door-to-door through the nearby Ukrainian immigrant community. A similar canvass was conducted last week.
More than a dozen of Soltys’ relatives remained under police protection Monday.
