* Trimedyne Inc., an Irvine manufacturer of surgical lasers and fiber-optic devices, said it lost $1.7 million, or 15 cents a share, in the third quarter, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $969,000, or 8 cents a share. Revenue was unchanged at $1.6 million.
* Microsemi Corp. in Irvine named Rodney Masumoto to head its new Product Development Center in Irvine. He had been with Silicon Systems/Texas Instruments in Tustin.
