Regarding “An Independent Woman” (Letters, Dec. 9): As one independent woman to another, I identify with Carolyn Wiczynski’s description of what we lone traveling females sometimes confront: a quizzical look, rude questions, closet-size rooms, the single-supplement tariff.
On the other hand, I get to decide where to go, set my own pace, eat when and where I choose. I am free to do it my way. And I have met some interesting travelers along the way, some of whom became friends.
At my age (75), I have decided that if my solitary state bothers some, it is their problem, not mine.
