Stacy Dragila, winner of the first women’s Olympic pole vault title in Sydney, soared 15 feet 2 1/4 inches on her second try at the Millrose Games in New York, breaking the world indoor record of 15-1 3/4 she set last year in the USA Championships. The record performance also matched the outdoor mark she set last year.
Florida’s C.J. Hobgood led a team representing Rusty Surfboards to victory in the Op Tag-Team Tournament, a Huntington Beach event featuring four-surfer teams from surfwear manufacturers and local retailers.
Quiksilver, led by six-time world champion Kelly Slater, finished second.
