Ami Forney’s layup with three seconds left gave California a 58-57 victory over UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.
UCLA’s Kristee Porter missed a running shot from just outside the Bruin free-throw line as the buzzer sounded. Cal (8-11, 4-5) built a 15-point lead with 16:17 to play. The Bruins (3-17, 2-7) rallied to take a 47-42 lead with 5:50 left, but Cal came back to tie, 47-47, with 4:52 remaining.
The Bruins’ last lead came at 57-56 when Natalie Nakase made one of two free throws with 20 seconds left. Cal got the rebound, missed an outside shot and had the follow shot blocked out of bounds with five seconds left, setting the stage for Forney’s layup.
Kenya Corley led Cal with a game-high 25 points. Michelle Greco led UCLA with 18 points.
