Arson is suspected in a blaze that destroyed five vehicles and a carport early Tuesday, causing an estimated $270,000 in damage, fire officials said.
Firefighters were called to the 17900 block of Devonshire Street about 12:45 a.m. and extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes.
The fire was contained to the carport, a free-standing, single-story wood and stucco structure used by residents of an apartment complex.
A sixth vehicle was damaged, said Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman.
Officials are still investigating the incident but said the fire was intentionally set, Humphrey said.
A North Hills carport fire in October also destroyed five cars, with damage estimated at $65,000. The cause of that blaze was undetermined.
