A 41-year-old Oxnard man found dead inside his apartment was identified Wednesday as 41-year-old Benny Dahl Jr.
Final results of an autopsy won’t be released for several weeks but Dahl probably died of complications brought on by chronic alcohol abuse, said Senior Deputy Medical Examiner Craig Stevens.
Stevens said Dahl had been dead for about a week.
Oxnard police detectives are investigating whether Dahl’s unit in the 2700 block of C Street was burglarized while he lay dead in an upstairs bedroom.
A television and stereo equipment were missing, and other areas of the unit appeared to be ransacked, said Sgt. Jim Seitz, head of the major crimes unit.
Police were called when neighbors grew concerned about Dahl after noticing that a front door was open.
