Right to Life

* Re “Out of a Coma, Into a Twilight,” Jan. 2: My heart goes out to the individuals struggling to make sense of such a tragedy, but starving someone to death is not “letting” him or her die. A wife’s disappointment and bitterness over the condition of her husband do not justify killing him. On the one hand she says he is not her husband, but she has the right to deprive him of food and water? This is horrible.

The “right to die” movement seems more dedicated to individuals exercising power over life and thus denigrating the value of all life. Life has inherent value. “Thou shalt not kill” could be enough to decide this case.
