Wanted: Applicants for Water Board
The Yorba Linda Water District Board of Directors is not yet sure how it will fill the seat left vacant when Brett Barbre assumed his newly elected post on the board of the Municipal Water District of Orange County this month.
Board members decided last week to accept applications from people interested in filling the remaining two years of Barbre’s term and may appoint a replacement. The board also could hold a special election.
Yorba Linda Water District General Manager Bill Robertson said those interested in the position have until Feb. 2 to submit a letter to water board President Paul Armstrong stating why they would like to serve on the five-member panel. Applicants must be registered to vote and live within the 13-mile district stretching from Valencia Avenue east to the county line, and from La Palma Avenue north to Brea.
Robertson said it will probably cost more than $20,000 to call a special election to fill the position. Exact costs will be presented to the board Jan. 25. Information: (714) 777-9593.
