Cypress Squanders Lead in 86-83 Loss

Cypress missed an opportunity for an upset, squandering a 10-point halftime lead in an 86-83 loss to Riverside in an Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday.
Brandon Erquhart scored 28 points and D. Jay Lucas had 26 for the host Chargers (9-14, 2-5), who led, 47-37, at halftime.
Ricy Fisher had 18 points and seven rebounds and Nick Gosserand had 16 points and eight rebounds for second-place Riverside (14-11, 5-2).
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball:
Fullerton 82, Golden West 74--Five Fullerton players scored in double figures, led by Kevin Turner with 20 points.
Saddleback 61, Irvine Valley 53--Adrian Aguayo scored 17 points and Mark Brown had 14 for host Saddleback (22-2, 7-0), which won its 17th consecutive game.
Mike Ahmad had 13 points and Chris Ferguson 12 for Irvine Valley (12-12, 2-5).
