Estonian Couple Have a Headlock on Title
Using their trademark spouse-toting hold, an Estonian couple trounced the competition to win the world wife-carrying title. It was the fourth consecutive win for Estonia.
Margo Uusorg, 22, and Birgit Ullrich, 18, traveled to a village in central Finland to defend their record from last year and once again walked away with the top prize--Ullrich’s weight in beer. She weighs 75 pounds.
The couple used the “Estonian carry,” in which the woman squeezes her thighs on the sides of the man’s face and holds on to his waist while hanging upside-down along his back for the short race.
