Students Get to Perform Controversial Christ Play

Students at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne can go ahead with their performance of “Corpus Christi,” the controversial play that presents Jesus as a lewd, alcoholic homosexual.
A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by 21 state legislators who objected to the play’s performance at a tax-supported institution.
The lawmakers argued that the government was attacking Christianity by allowing the play to be performed. But District Judge William C. Lee ruled that no “reasonable person” would think the government endorsed the play just because it was staged at a state university. It is scheduled to open Aug. 10.
