Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Truck

A man jaywalking across a busy Van Nuys street was struck by a pickup truck and killed, authorities said Thursday.
The accident occurred at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on Vanowen Street near the Hollywood Freeway, said Officer Gary Weller of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Panorama City, where he died, said Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
