Coroner’s Office Names Victim of Fatal Crash

The 16-year-old Dana Hills High School student who died after his car hit a tree in Dana Point on Friday was Steven Katzenberger of Laguna Niguel, the Orange County coroner’s office said Saturday.
Katzenberger died after his car spun and crashed into a tree near Niguel Road and Camino del Avion, and split in two, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash but believe the youth was speeding west on Camino del Avion when he lost control about 9:30 p.m.
