Junior Olympic Sailing Event Begins Today

The Junior Olympic Sailing Festival begins today with opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. and runs through the weekend with competition in five classes from noon to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Santa Barbara’s West Beach.
There will be 130 competitors ranging in age from 12 to 20. As part of the festival, sailors will receive instruction from professional coaches as well as participate in competition sponsored by U.S. Sailing. Closing ceremonies and awards presentations will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday.
