Today is the first day hopefuls may pick up a nomination form to run for a City Council seat in Fillmore.
Two seats, each for a four-year term, will be open in the November election. Mayor Don Gunderson has announced he will not run again, and Councilwoman Linda Brewster has not stated publicly whether she will seek reelection.
Fillmore residents 18 or older who are registered voters in the city may seek election.
To qualify, a prospective candidate must pick up a nomination form at the city clerk’s office and obtain the signatures of at least 20, but no more than 30, registered voters in the city who support the nomination.
The deadline to return the form is Aug. 9. There is no charge to obtain or file nomination materials.
For more information, call Deputy City Clerk Steve McClary at 524-1500, Ext. 211, or e-mail [email protected].
