20 Tall Ships to Sail Into Canadian Festival

What’s billed as the largest gathering of tall ships in British Columbia in a century will be held Aug. 8 to 12 in Richmond, which is about 20 minutes south of downtown Vancouver.
More than 20 ships, mostly from the U.S. and Canada but also from as far away as New Zealand, will participate, said Richmond city spokesman Ted Townsend.
Events in the five-day Richmond Tall Ships Festival include a parade of sails Aug. 8; an art and food fair; and music on five stages. Most events are free, except for tours of the ships Aug. 9 to 11. Tour tickets are about $6.50 (plus taxes and service charges) in advance or $10 at the festival. Order from Ticketmaster in Canada, (604) 280-4444, www.ticketmaster.ca.
