Niagara Rafter Is Held on Immigration Charges

A Chinese man allegedly trying to illegally enter the United States from Canada was pulled from the fast-moving waters of the Niagara River after his raft overturned, authorities said.
The crew of a U.S. Border Patrol boat spotted a man in distress about 3:15 a.m. near Lewiston, Border Patrol Assistant Chief Bill Adams said.
The man was treated and taken into custody. Investigators were questioning him, and said they believe he was traveling alone.
