Motorcycle Officer Hurt in Collision With Auto

A Brea motorcycle officer was seriously injured in a traffic collision Thursday, but the driver of the car that hit him was not cited because the crash occurred on an unofficial road, authorities said.
Officer William Garcia was hit shortly before 10 a.m., when Ronald Robert Olsen, 53, of Diamond Bar, drifted onto the wrong side of Santa Fe Road near Condor Avenue in northeast Brea as he tried to make a left turn, Brea Police Sgt. Jack Conklin said. Garcia, 52, was treated for a punctured lung and broken ribs, collarbone and shoulder, Conklin said.
The street was built during the last year as part of a new housing development but hadn’t been inspected by the city, so no violations would apply, although Olsen’s turn was “dangerous and improper,” Conklin said. An investigation was continuing.
