Motorcyclist Dies After Veering Into Utility Pole

A Ventura man died after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a utility pole, authorities said Thursday.
Michael Balton, 36, was traveling east on Foothill Road at a high rate of speed about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Balton rounded a curve at Crestwood Avenue and veered off the road, striking the utility pole, which was sheared off by the force of the impact, said Lt. Quinn Fenwick.
Balton was taken to Community Memorial Hospital, where he died, police said.
