Gunmen in South Kill 5 Policemen in Attacks

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at three police checkpoints, killing at least five policemen and one civilian in coordinated attacks in Thailand’s restive south, officials said.
It was the deadliest attack in the last year in Muslim-dominated southern Thailand. Officials blame Muslim separatists and criminals for the violence. All the attacks in Pattani province, 600 miles south of Bangkok, occurred within 10 minutes of one another, police said.
