2 Die, 28 Wounded in Kashmir Attack

Suspected Islamic guerrillas tossed a grenade and opened fire at a meeting between a government minister and health officials in the village of Larnu in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, killing two people and wounding 28, police said.
Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed, the rural development minister in the government of Jammu and Kashmir state, was shot in the leg, said Pervez Dewan, a top state administrator. A local schoolteacher and a Larnu resident were killed, Dewan said. The Jamayet-ul-Moujahedeen and Tehreek-i-Jihad-i-Islami militant groups claimed joint responsibility, the Press Trust of India reported.
