A trial in the Valley of Fire

Regarding Nicholas Riccardi’s Weekend Escape, “Passing Up Slots for Slot Canyons in Vegas” (April 20): We had never visited Valley of Fire State Park and decided to take the “easy, 1.24-mile loop” White Domes trail he mentioned.
There was nothing easy about an early steep descent among boulders, which was not noted in the article. I was able to climb down this section, but unfortunately my aunt was not and had to turn back after barely starting.
The exit to this trail is just before the picnic area on the right, and if people are unable to navigate the steep boulders at the trail’s entrance, they can easily reach the slot canyon and movie set by walking the trail from the exit (although it is a longer two-mile round trip).
