Carmel Handicap Is Loaded With Winners

Four of the five horses entered in tonight’s $15,000 Carmel Handicap are coming off victories.
All four are trained by Paul Jones or Blane Schvaneveldt, and the favorite could be the Schvaneveldt-trained Almost Flyin.
Owned by a partnership that includes breeder Jimmy Coffman, the 4-year-old Strawfly Special horse won by three-quarters of a length in his most recent appearance last month.
It was the fifth win in 11 starts for the Texas-bred, who will be ridden by Alex Bautista.
Jones will send out Dragon Wings, who has won two in a row, and Truly Tia, who won last month.
This Snow Is Mine, who won for Schvaneveldt last month at 21-1, and Prayers Junior round out the field in the 350-yard race.
The picks: 1. Yurmans Secret. 2. Dancing Kack. 3. Chenilles Dasher. 4. Fra Amici. 5. Wranglers Lil Heart. 6. Expocito. 7. El Plebe. 8. Truly Tia. 9. Give A Little.
Four! Use Red Dirt Girl, the Perfectly Pritzi-Control Freak entry and Yurmans Secret in the first, Dancing Kack and Ourenay in the second, Campaign For Royalty, Genester and Chenilles Dasher in the third and single Fra Amici in the fourth.
Shots in the dark: Quick Like A Fox had trouble in her comeback and could rebound in the fifth. Virtuous Victory gets a big jockey change to Ramon Guce in the sixth.
