Imperial Valley Farmers Sue Their Water Board

In a move that underscores the fragility of California’s day-old Colorado River water-sharing deal, a group of influential Imperial Valley farmers broke ranks and sued their water board Thursday, accusing it of mismanaging the region’s massive supply of river water.
The lawsuit was brought by three farmers, but lawyers contend that two dozen more support the action brought in U.S. District Court in San Diego.
It was filed one day after state officials resurrected a deal to divide the state’s share of the Colorado River among Imperial and three Southland water agencies.
