The National Endowment for the Humanities said it will award $25.2 million in grants to public libraries, universities and historical societies for educational programs, including many that explore U.S. history and culture.
The grants are part of the NEH’s “We the People” initiative, a program announced last year to fund more humanities projects that highlight major events in American history.
The funds include support for a traveling exhibit about Abraham Lincoln’s efforts to abolish slavery during the Civil War.
