In its first deal with an unaffiliated studio, Movielink, the online movie distributor owned by five major Hollywood film companies, is set to announce an agreement today with independent Artisan Entertainment Inc.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Movielink is jointly owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal and Warner Bros.
The deal calls for Artisan to supply Movielink with new pay-per-view releases and an undetermined number of older films. The service currently offers about 250 downloadable movies from the five major studios for $2.95 to $4.99 per title.
