City Council Considers Plan for Sports Complex

California’s Central Valley may soon have a new sports and entertainment complex.
The Stockton City Council is set to consider a plan Tuesday for a new 20-acre center that would include a 10,000-seat arena, a 5,000-seat baseball stadium, a 150-room hotel, shops and apartments.
The city would use almost $100 million in interest earnings, bonds and developer fees to pay the bulk of the project’s cost.
The baseball stadium would be used by the Stockton Ports, a minor league team.
The city does not currently have pro sports teams to play in the larger arena.
