Sales equals soul?

Thank you, Agustin Gurza, for saying that Luis Miguel has ample vocal talents and charisma in your recent review of his latest album, “Mexico en la Piel.” Yes, he sure does! But it’s interesting that what Gurza calls a “soulless” CD sold more than 800,000 copies in less than a week after its release.
Gurza also neglected to mention that Luis Miguel owns four Grammys, three Latin Grammys, and a host of other prestigious awards that few Latin artists have achieved.
“Mexico en la Piel” doesn’t only appeal to the “Mexican buyer”; in fact, the CD has been No. 1 on Billboard’s list of Latin albums since its release. It’s also in the Top 40 of Billboard’s overall list and No. 1 of the Top 100 bestselling albums in Spain.
I wouldn’t call that a “ranchera misstep”!
