An Oxnard woman was in serious but stable condition Thursday after being stabbed in the neck a day earlier, and her boyfriend has been jailed in connection with the attack.
The victim, whose name was not released, was stabbed about 11 a.m. Wednesday at her home in the 4700 block of Highland Avenue, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Jim Seitz. She was being treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
Seitz said the woman, 26, had been stabbed by Jose Andreas Rivera Lopez, 38, an avocado picker, who fled in his car after the attack. Lopez was located a few hours later in the Balcom Canyon area between Camarillo and Moorpark, police said.
Lopez remained jailed Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder. His bail was set at $500,000, and he was scheduled to be arraigned this morning.
