Disguised as teens, Alarm scores a hit

An aging United Kingdom rock group has scored its first chart hit in 15 years, in part by getting teenage stand-ins for the video of its latest song, “45RPM.”
Convinced the music industry is prejudiced against wrinkly rockers, the Alarm gave itself the pseudonym the Poppyfields and persuaded a group of fresh-faced youths to mime the band’s part.
The single went into the UK charts this week at No. 28.
Members of the Welsh band previously best known for the 1983 hit “68 Guns” said they pulled the stunt to show how much image affected sales in the music industry.
