Alleged Elizabeth Smart Kidnapper Ruled Unfit

Wanda Barzee, one of two people charged with kidnapping teenager Elizabeth Smart, was ruled incompetent to stand trial by a state judge who committed her to a state hospital “to restore her mental health.”
Barzee this week waived her right to a hearing to contest the findings of two mental health experts who found her incompetent to stand trial.
Barzee and her co-defendant, Brian David Mitchell, 50, are charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated burglary in the June 5, 2002, abduction of Elizabeth, then 14.
