NEW ORLEANS — Remnants of Hurricane Ivan swung back into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday and developed into a tropical storm, prompting warnings in Louisiana and Texas.
The storm was expected to make landfall tonight. Tropical storm warnings were up from the Mississippi River west to Sargent, Texas.
After hitting Florida last Thursday as a hurricane, Ivan headed north and drenched southern and mid-Atlantic states. As it was breaking up, part made a U-turn, dropping about 5 inches of rain on Florida before moving into the Gulf.
