The number of U.S. workers filing initial claims for unemployment benefits fell for a second straight week last week as more companies held on to employees.
Claims fell to 330,000 from a revised 340,000 the previous week that was higher than first reported, the Labor Department said. The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, rose to 338,000, the highest in four months.
