On his current tour, Kanye West is stretching the range of the live rap concert, much as he’s broadened the music’s sonic horizons and thematic scope on his two albums. Live strings supplement the beats on stage as West, ranging from the spirited “Gold Digger” to the sentimental “Roses,” reaffirms his position at the center of pop music’s creative and commercial heart.
Kanye West, Gibson Amphitheatre, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City. 8:15 p.m. Saturday. Sold out. (818) 777-3931.
