Elections Chief Perelli Fired Amid Accusations

The director of the U.N. elections unit was fired without pay after accusations of sexual harassment, and she immediately announced that she would fight what she called false charges.
The dismissal notice was given to Carina Perelli by Christopher Burnham, undersecretary-general for management.
In August, a report by a Swiss consulting firm accused her of fostering an abusive and sexually offensive environment.
