Toxic Spill Will Probably Dissipate, Officials Say

Toxic chemicals released into a river by a Nov. 13 Chinese chemical plant explosion are likely to dissipate to near permissible levels by the time they reach the far eastern Russian city of Khabarovsk this month, Russian emergency officials said.
The spill of 100 tons of benzene and other chemicals into northeastern China’s Songhua River, whose waters eventually reach the Amur, disrupted water supplies to millions of Chinese.
