Buffalo’s Chris Drury scored in overtime and Martin Biron became the first NHL goalie in eight years to win 12 consecutive starts, helping the Sabres ruin Michel Therrien’s debut as the Pittsburgh coach with a 4-3 victory Friday night at Pittsburgh.
The Penguins’ Mario Lemieux returned after sitting out four games because of an irregular heartbeat.
Chicago 5, St. Louis 1 -- Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 32 shots to lead the Blackhawks at Chicago. The Blues’ Keith Tkachuk will be out at least a month after being struck in the right hand by a puck.
San Jose 4, Washington 1 -- Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist and the Sharks remained unbeaten in six games since his arrival with a victory at San Jose.
