Stern honored as radio rebel for battling FCC

Radio talk show host Howard Stern has received Wired Magazine’s Wired Renegade award for his tense battle with the Federal Communications Commission and upcoming switch from broadcasting to Sirius Satellite Radio.
Other recipients of the sixth annual Rave Awards, presented Tuesday, included Brad Bird, who won in the film director category for “The Incredibles,” the computer-animated story of a family of superheroes.
Kevin Sites, a freelance journalist, took home the first Blogger award, for helping pioneer a new breed of reporting from the war in Iraq. Sites also chronicled the tsunami rescue effort in southeast Asia.
