U.N. Nominee Sends the Wrong Message
Re “Harsh Critic of U.N. Named Ambassador,” March 8: The president tours Europe and tells everyone that from now on we’re going to be a cooperative ally. Then he nominates as ambassador to the U.N. a man who has claimed that the U.S. might as well be the only permanent member of the Security Council because it has the power. Have we a forked tongue here again?
This nomination makes those of Condoleezza Rice and Alberto Gonzales seem conciliatory. She publicly ran the “Invade Iraq” campaign, and he supported torture and suspension of the Geneva Convention. But Bolton wants to rule the world.
Creating a cadre of militant neocons, Bush tries to turn an administration into a regime.
